Secretary’s report for last six months

September 2017

Just a few words as to the business of the Association that has happened over the last 6 months, since the AGM Luncheon in April.

Sadly Richard Osborn passed away in April, and Terry Claridge in August,

Thirteen members attended a lunch at the Red Lion Milton Bryan, on 1st July to commemorate Founder Day. It was a very successful afternoon; everyone enjoyed the get together to remember the founding of the Association over 73 years ago.

Hyde awards at Parkfields Middle School and St George’s Lower School on 21st July Chairman Len Hull and Vice Chairman Melvin Bryant attended both schools to present the Hyde awards to 4 pupils at Parkfields and 2 pupils at St George’s.

Congratulations have been conveyed on behalf of the Association to a previous Chairman Ian M Smith who was recently ordained as a Reverend of the Church of England.

Saturday 7th July 2018

Association founding 75 years ago.

Taking into account the result of the members survey in April, and after several lengthy meetings the committee have decided the celebration of our 75th Anniversary will be a dinner for members and wives/partners at Tilsworth Golf Centre.

The cost will be £30 a head; this is to cover the meal, 3 courses, with a choice from 3 starters, 4 mains, and 3 desserts. Hire of the room from 7pm to midnight, drinks on arrival, wine on the tables, and the music. In addition to any decorations, etc.

The room is limited to about 90, so I suspect we will be oversubscribed.

I may if members wish, take non-returnable deposits of £10 a head to secure a place at the function, but I will speak more on the function at the October Luncheon. Form is enclosed/attached for completion by members wishing to attend.

Secretary / Treasurer
